The botanical garden with arboretum and rock garden are also enchanting. A Gothic astronomical clock from the 15th century adorns the Gothic Marienkirche in the old town. We continue to the Hanseatic city of Wismar. It is located on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the southern end of the Wismar Bay protected by the island of Poel. The UNESCO World Heritage City boasts a unique, elaborately renovated and restored historic old town and many sights. These include the imposing market square with the magnificent town houses and the water art, as well as the architectural ensemble at the Old Harbor.

The university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald in the northeast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania lies on the river Ryck on the Greifswalder Bodden, which flows into the Baltic Sea, between the islands of Rügen and Usedom and is particularly well known and popular for its chalk cliffs.
